Progress Chair Dr Dave Manley Retires

Progress Chair and COMHADs Champion from Nottingham is retiring from his role in the NHS

Dave Manley has worked as a Nurse Consultant for co-occurring mental health, alcohol and drugs (COMHAD) and worked as a Clinical Director of Substance Misuse Services with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and clinical director of Substance Misuse Services for the trust.

Before taking up my current post Dave worked for five years as the clinical lead of the integrated countywide dual diagnosis services. He has a special interest in cognitive behavioural Interventions, in particular cue reactivity and relapse prevention. I've had several articles and book chapters published relating to dual diagnosis.

Prior to my current post I worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with Nottingham Alcohol and Drug Team for three years and before that as a Community Psychiatric Nurse in mental health community rehabilitation services in Nottingham. I'm currently undertaking doctorate research in the into the treatment experiences of people with coexisting mental health and substance misuse problems.

Dave completed his psychiatric nurse training at Sheffields Northern General Hospital.

Dave has been the Chair of the East Midlands Regional COMHAD / Dual Diagnosis network which aims to offer collaborative support and peer based clinical supervision to staff across the region. Dave also developed and delivered degree modules at Nottingham University on COMHAD / dual diagnosis and involved with the diploma/degree in Drug and Alcohol addiction.

Dave has been a member of the editorial board of Advances in Dual Diagnosis.
